What Is a HydraFacial?

HydraFacial is a multi step skin care treatment that cleanses, extracts, hydrates, and delivers serums into the skin. The word “hydra” itself gives away one of the biggest benefits of this type of facial — it provides the skin with much-needed hydration.

Patients are wowed by their skin after receiving HydraFacials treatment, as the results speak for themselves.

How a HydraFacial Is Performed

The HydraFacial involves four key steps to achieve glowing skin.

Cleanse and Exfoliate

The first thing HydraFacials aim to do is cleanse the skin. However, this is not the type of cleansing you can achieve at home. The HydraFacial cleanses on a deeper level.

After cleansing, the next step is exfoliation. Proper exfoliation is a necessity for good skin health. Exfoliation is achieved with the patented HydraFacial tip, which pushes out a vortex of water to dislodge dead skin cells and other impurities.

Chemical Peel

Like a chemical peel, the HydraFacial uses certain acids to resurface and exfoliate the skin. However, it is more gentle than traditional peel methods.

A mix of salicylic and glycolic acids is applied to the skin to penetrate the pores. As the solution gets into the pores, it loosens debris, making it easier to extract later on. The peel also leaves the skin feeling soft and smooth.

Extraction

Unlike a traditional facial, the HydraFacial performs extractions without force or discomfort.

A wand with a special extraction tip is smoothed along your skin. It uses a suction effect to draw debris out of your pores. Multiple levels of suction are available, so we will find the one that works best for your skin.

Hydration

Last but not least, a serum is delivered through the HydraFacial wand. This serum hydrates, detoxifies, and rejuvenates, leaving your skin feeling refreshed and glowing.

HydraFacial Benefits

Patients love HydraFacials and the results they experience. Among the many benefits of HydraFacials, the following are some of the most significant:

  • Gentle Yet Effective: While HydraFacials provide substantial results, every step is gentle and non irritating
  • Customizable: Your HydraFacial can be customized to fit your specific skin needs and goals
  • No Downtime: After treatment, you can resume your normal activities
  • Instant Results: HydraFacial results are often noticeable right after treatment — the skin usually feels soft and looks brighter

HydraFacials are also suitable for all skin types. Whether you have dry, oily, acne-prone, or mature skin, you can enjoy the many advantages of a HydraFacial treatment.

Who Benefits Most from HydraFacials?

Although HydraFacials can improve nearly anyone’s skin, they particularly benefit patients with the following skin concerns:

  • Fine lines
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Sun damage
  • Acne
  • Reduced skin elasticity and firmness
  • Dry, flaky skin
  • Dull skin
  • Enlarged, clogged pores

Patients who are pregnant or have rashes, sunburns, rosacea, or other skin irritations should postpone treatment.

During your appointment, we can discuss the benefits HydraFacials can have on your skin, depending on your concerns and desired results. Should you have any questions or doubts, we’ll happily address them.

Preparing for a HydraFacial

Before your treatment, you should take the following steps to get the most out of your HydraFacial:

  • Avoid Retin-A or other tretinoin products for at least two days
  • Avoid using any exfoliating products, including glycolic acid, for at least 48 hours
  • Do not get any chemical peels, resurfacing treatments, or laser procedures for at least two weeks
  • Avoid waxing or using depilatories on your face for at least two days
  • Stay out of the sun and away from tanning for at least 72 hours
  • Stop use of acne medication, including salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide, for two days
  • Avoid shaving your face on the day of your HydraFacial

During a consultation, we will provide detailed instructions and additional tips to help ensure you receive the most comfortable treatment with exceptional results.

How Do HydraFacials Differ from Regular Facials?

There are numerous similarities and differences between HydraFacials and regular facials.

Both traditional facials HydraFacials can be relaxing and comfortable. However, the multistep process of a HydraFacial amplifies the skin-rejuvenating results of a traditional facial. The whole process comes together to accomplish several skin care goals, but the treatment itself is gentle, avoiding any skin irritation.

During a traditional facial, it’s common for the skin to become irritated. While you may see some results after a regular facial, the skin might be red and slightly inflamed, especially if manual extractions are performed.

The benefits of a HydraFacial far outweigh those of a regular facial.

How Often Should You Get HydraFacials?

The effects of a HydraFacial do not last forever. But the more treatments you get, the better you can expect your skin to look over time. It’s best to book HydraFacials regularly.

Many patients schedule HydraFacials every four to six weeks. Getting HydraFacials routinely helps you continue to enjoy the benefits of the treatment and maintain your healthy glow.
